Serco have an exciting opportunity within our Maritime division for a Change Manager to join the team. This role will play a pivotal role in driving the successful adoption of new systems, processes, and behaviours across the organisation as part of the DMS-NG maritime programme. The role will focus upon leading the business change strategy, ensuring stakeholder engagement, managing resistance, and embedding a culture of continuous improvement during this large-scale transformation. Our Change Manager will facilitate the business change and cultural shift required for the successful implementation of new technologies and business processes. Furthermore, it will support the transition from legacy systems to modern digital solutions, enhancing organisational agility, employee engagement, and operational efficiency in line with programme objectives.


This role is offered as remote based with regular requirements to travel to our UK sites when required. 


Main Accountabilities: 


Change Strategy and Planning:

 

 

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive business change management strategy tailored to the needs of the DMS-NG programme.
  • Create detailed change plans, including communication, training, and stakeholder engagement strategies to support adoption.
  • Assess the impact of change initiatives and create plans to manage risks and resistance.

 

Stakeholder Engagement and Communication:

 

 

  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels to understand their needs and concerns regarding the change.
  • Develop clear, concise communication plans that articulate the vision, benefits, and progress of the transformation.
  • Lead engagement efforts to ensure buy-in and support from all affected groups, addressing resistance and fostering a positive change culture.

 

Training and Capability Building:

 

 

  • Develop and oversee training programmes to equip staff with the necessary skills and knowledge to adapt to new systems and processes.
  • Support team members in their learning journey, promoting continuous improvement and capability building across the organisation.

 

Risk and Issue Management:

 

 

  • Identify potential risks related to the change process and develop strategies to address them proactively for the business.
  • Monitor the progress of change initiatives, adapting plans as necessary to mitigate issues and ensure successful adoption.

 

Process Improvement and Innovation:

 

 

  • Continuously evaluate the effectiveness of change initiatives and seek opportunities for improvement.
  • Implement innovative approaches to overcome barriers to change and enhance the overall transformation process.

 

Cultural Transformation:

 

 

  • Lead efforts to shift the organisational culture from a traditional to a modern, agile mindset, promoting openness to new ways of working.
  • Embed change principles into everyday business operations to sustain momentum and ensure long-term success.


What you'll need to do the role:

 

 

  • Proven change management experience. 
  • Previous experience of working in a unionised large-scale change initiatives in a complex environment.
  • Strong understanding of change management principles, methodologies, and tools.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence at all levels.
  • Experience with project management tools like Microsoft Project and stakeholder analysis tools.
  • Knowledge of data analysis and reporting to measure change adoption and impact is desirable.
