Here at HMP Thameside, it takes a whole team of people to keep the facility safe, secure and in proper working order. Reporting into the Facilities Manager, you will work alongside a team of multi-skilled engineers within the Facilities Services team. As our new Escort, you will enable Contractors to perform tasks within the establishment in a safe and secure manner, ensuring that all Contractors and their tools are accounted for and managed securely at all times, and that all work meets regulations.
As this role forms part of our Facilities Management Team, you will be required to cover nightshifts and occasional weekend work as required and it is important that you are physically fit due to the physically demanding nature of the role. Working in Custodial, it is an intensely pressurised environment so you must also be confident in your ability to communicate effectively, with a high level of customer service skills. What you'll need to do the role
We are looking for someone who has previously worked in a similar role and will be able to hit the ground running upon starting. Although experience working in a security/custodial environment would be desirable, this is not essential. As you will be assisting in multi-trade support within the team, we would also consider relevant certifications or licences that will allow you to aid in other areas for e.g. Health & Safety knowledge, Electrical, Plumbing etc. Good I.T, Numeracy and Literacy skills will also be an essential part of the role on a day to day basis.
A key part of this role is to be pro-active and this will be achieved by commitment to customer satisfaction and striving for continuous improvement in your working approach, including the ability to prioritise workload, using your own initiative and working in a logical and methodical manner to tight timescales. You will be confident in your ability to communicate effectively at all levels, both in writing and orally. It is important that you have a flexible and a common-sense approach to work due to this role involving nightshifts and weekend work. Please note that you will also be expected to pass a full security check.
